Treatment of Hyperpigmentation

Treatment of Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a recurrent and challenging dermatological issue that often negatively impacts patients’ sense of attractiveness. In addition to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the most common and difficult-to-treat type is melasma. It is characterized by diffuse, patchy areas of hyperpigmentation on the forehead, around the eyes, jawline, and above the upper lip.

Treatment is often a long-term process, lasting several months. Each case requires an individualized treatment plan that includes the selection of procedures, appropriate skincare, and, if necessary, pharmacotherapy.

Patient education is also essential, particularly in terms of prevention and maintenance therapy.

Most commonly used procedures:

  • Chemical peels;
  • Cutera laser therapy;
  • ClearLift nanosecond laser;
  • Microneedling with Dermapen 4;
  • Injectable treatments using stimulating substances (polynucleotides, Sculptra®);
  • LED medical phototherapy with Dermalux Tri-Wave;
  • Photodynamic therapy.
